Rules (because everyone needs them)

:bulletorange: Must be a member before you can contribute. (If you simply wish to contribute without being a member send me a note with a link to the work in question. I'll let you know if its okay.)

:bulletorange: Prose writers can post one work a day.

:bulletorange: Poetry writers can post one work a week. This is due to the large amount of submissions of poetry. If you submit more than one at a time, I will only accept one and reject the rest. You can submit them at a later date.

:bulletorange: In critiques, it must be constructive. Cruelty is not allowed! If you must tell someone something negative about their work, then be as kind as possible.

:bulletorange: No fan fiction, contributions must be entirely original. (I know, I'm such a buzzkill.)

:bulletorange: If you are a member and contribute, you must comment, critique, or review the works of others. It is only fair that if someone is paying attention to you that you acknowledge them. (So far this is not happening, and I may have to restrict submissions until people start reviewing or critiquing. Thank you.)

:bulletorange: Have fun!

In Addition: When submitting artwork, please submit it to the appropriate folder. If it is part of a longer piece and you have a folder for it, submit it right into the folder with the rest of the work. If you have a new long work, and you do not have a folder, send me a note so that I can make you one. Thank you.

Group Info

This group's focus is that of writing. The purpose of this group is to help critique and refine works while sharing ideas with each other. New writers or veteran writers. Poetry and prose. Fiction and non-fiction. Chapters of books or short stories. All are welcome. All that is required is that original work must be submitted. Sure, there are good fan fictions out there, but we like to see how your mind works at all angles and that includes character and world creation. So whip out that pen and notebook and start composing!

I just had this amazing thought pop into my head. Yes, I would like to know if there are any books you recommend. Post them in the comments below with why you loved it to death, or simply liked it. If you wrote a review about it, post a link.

I'll start with my recommendation of Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid Chronicles starting with Hounded. If you haven't figured it out already, the books are about, yup, a druid. The last druid, and his name is Atticus O'Sullivan (because there isn't a more Irish last name). He's a bad ass with moments of frat boy immaturity despite being 2,100 years old. These books are both funny and sad, giving them the the perfect bittersweet quality at moments. If you're into urban fantasy, then you need to read the first one. Like it, there are four more.

For more full on book reviews, you can check out my profile (BlewSkyMoon) since I post all my reviews in my journal. I read mostly speculative and urban fantasy, but I've got a good YA mystery in there as well.

So what do you recommend? What genre is it and why do you like it? Sound off below!

Today was a pretty awesome day.
The sun was shining.
The air was warm with summer promise.
The song birds tittered in the tree’s merrily.
And in about thirty second the two joggers in the oh so scandalous fitness attire were going to run right past him.
And that would make the hour of hell it took to get there all worth it.
Sure company policy mandated a strict fitness regime, just like every other company in the business really. There was the cited health and safety benefits, the increased oxygenation of the blood, and the documented increased levels of dopamine in the brain given off by a successful work out. Most companies got away with the international employment laws by using free weights and stationary aerobic equipment. Heck the jogger had once heard that one company operating out of the People’s Republic of Heavenly Bodies, had hooked the exercise bikes in the gymnasia into the primary BUS to power an emergency flywheel battery.
A joule of energy created by man was

My Sunbeam
I never got to say goodbye to you.  You were only sometimes nice, and usually when you were tired.  You purred and rubbed up against me, mostly when you were hungry.  If I touched you in one of your independent moods you'd get irritated and eventually swat at me.
All this is true, but you were my kitty.  I liked it when you ran through the house - sometimes I would run through it with you, wait until we met head to head and you would grow to twice your size, BOUNCING up as you arched your back and your fur stood on end.
Your fur was the color of golden sunlight, but your pretty belly was white.  Somewhere down the line that belly got bigger, partly when you grew up but mostly when you moved to go away.  My fat kitty, I'd watch you try to jump up onto couches that were only twice your height, hesitating and bouncing until you finally worked up the courage to make it.
I'm sorry you got fat, sorry I couldn't keep you.
I remember

I apologize ahead of time for my lack of activity. I've been busy with work and other personal matters. However, I'll still try and read what I can to give advice and feedback as much as possible :).
